Shopping is a must for all travelers whether they are traveling for business or pleasure. The traveler may shop consciously for business items and for trinkets for themselves or for friends and family as gifts or they may shop subconsciously for personal items they may need for the trip. The shopping can be done at shops, malls, markets and so on depending on the clients fancy. Throughout the city of Cannes, there are different shopping areas. They range from outlet malls, outlet stores, and even simple shops. There are the regular and up market shops that deal with both, local and international brands depending on the interest of the shopper.
Outlet malls and stores offer quality goods on either wholesale or retail basis at greatly discounted prices that are pocket friendly to the shopper. The goods on offer range from clothes, to perfumes, and so on. In this city, the shops open from 10 am up to 7pm on Monday through to Saturday. It must be noted however that there are certain shops that close for two hours at midday while others open even on Sunday in order to accommodate the tourists that may need to do some shopping on this day. The opening and closing hours are not fixed either as some may choose to open earlier or close later.
There are different shopping areas in Cannes that accommodate different classes of people. There is the upper region that specializes in designer brands and is there far more costly. The lower end of the shopping district has more pocket friendly prices and some of the items are cheaper versions of the more expensive designer items. This area also has larger pedestrian zones, which allows for ease of movement whether one is actually buying any items or just window-shopping. These lower end areas have shops that deal with sports gear, furniture, perfumes and they have florist shops. Another advantage they have is the specialist shops that offer regional specialties and clothes.
The Marche Forville is a covered market in the city. It is a market that has for sale fruits, vegetables, fresh fish flowers, oysters and so on. The floral section is found at the end of this market and on Monday, there is usually a flea market within the market. Duty free shopping is available for most if not all of these items that the tourist may wish to purchase while in this iconic city.
