The Cannes Film Festival as started since 1946, it is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious film festivals as it is organized annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, in the resort town of Cannes, in the south of France.

The history of Cannes film festival is very interesting to interfere and interpret with respect to its historical perspective and conclusion. By the end of the 1930 disturbed by the interference of the fascist governments of Italy and Germany while selecting the movies for the Mostra del cinema di Venezia, Jean Zay, the French Minister of National Education, decided to formed an international cinematographic festival in France, that was proposed by the Philippe Erlanger and it had the support of British and Americans. Among many cities Cannes was selected for the Le Festival International de Cannes festival.

In June 1939, the first Cannes film festival was held from 1st to 30th September and was followed by the deceleration of war against Germany by France and the United Kingdom on 3rd September and it ended the first edition even before it started. However, the festival restarted after the World War II in 1946 at the old Casino of Cannes and was financed by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry and the City of Cannes. Though, the Cannes festival was started to compete with its competitor Italian film festival yet they both went into a secret agreement as to celebrate their respective film festivals alternatively. When the Franco-Italian agreement was disclosed to public it was severely criticized as a “capitulation of France”.

Following year, in 1947, the festival was organized again the Festival du film de Cannes, as it dropped its international nature, but only in name, however around sixteen countries participated in film festival. This year too the festival was held at the made-for-the-occasion Palais des Festivals; however its roof blew off during a storm.

In 1955, the Golden Palm was created, by the French Union of Film Critics as the first parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival. Its primary objective was to showcase first and second works by directors from all over the world, as to refrain away from commercial tendencies. It was during 1970s some important change has occurred in the Festival. In 1972, Robert Favre Le Bret was named the new President, and Maurice Bessy the Managing Director. He made an improvement into the selection of the participating films and movies. During later development developed one committee to be made to select French films and another was recognized for foreign films. In 1978 Gilles Jacob accepted the President position and introduced the Caméra d’Or award and the Un Certain Regard section. Another important change during the history of film festival is reducing the length of the festival down to thirteen days. The Jury was composed by Film Academics, and Jacob started to introduce celebrities and professionals from the film industry.
Overall Cannes Film Festival is generally is being organized in different sections. Its most popular sections are Official Selection and Parallel Section. Official Selection is subdivided into in competition, uncertain regard, out of competition, special screenings and short films. Parallel section is about the non competitive programs as dedicated to finding out the other aspects of cinema. They are being like as Cannes Classics, Tous les Cinémas du Monde, Cinéma de la Plage.

• Juries at Cannes Film Festival: While, well ahead of beginning of festival, the Festivals boards of directors appoints the juries that is considered responsible for selecting out films as to be picked up for award. Jurors happen to be a wide range of international artists. Primary juries set up at Cannes film festival are for:
